Bamboo seeds are commonly known as bamboo rice of species Bambusa bambos Druce are distinct from ordinary grasses in their perennial tree like growth habits, and flowering (seeding) only once at the end of very long vegetative growth phase followed by death of bamboo. Bamboo seeds are put into a variety of traditional medicinal uses and also an important source of food for indigenous people of Western Ghats of south India. Bamboo seeds uses are not well explored and this review provides the collection, traditional uses and scientific studies available for bamboo seeds. Key words-Bamboo seed, Bambusa bambos Druce, Bamboo rice

Estimation of Telmesartan and Atrovastatin was done by RP-HPLC. The Phosphate buffer was pH 4.5 and the mobile phase was optimized with consists of Acetonitrile: Phosphate buffer mixed in the ratio of 75:25 % v/ v. A Xbridge C18,column was used. The detection was carried out using PDA detector at 220 nm. Telmesartan and Atrovastatin Linear regression coefficient was not more than 0.999. The values of % RSD are less than 2% indicating accuracy and precision of the method. Key words: Telmesartan, Atrovastatin, RP-HPLC.

Depression is a disorder of the brain. There are a variety of causes, including genetic, environmental, psychological and biochemical factors. Currently, the available anti-depressant agents are associated with unwanted side effects and have their own limitations. An increasing number of herbal products have been introduced into psychiatric practice, as alternative or complementary medicines. Aim of the study is to evaluate the antidepressant activity of amla (Emblica officinalis) in albino mice and compare it with imipramine. Animal study was carried out in mice using two animal models – Tail suspension test and Forced swimming test. Results were analyzed by factorial repeated measure ANOVA and multivariate statistical tests. Amla at the above doses significantly reduced the immobility time in both the tests compared to control (p < 0.05).The reduction in duration of immobility at the dose of 4mg/kg was comparable to imipramine. The aqueous extract of fruits of amla (Emblica officinalis) has significant antidepressant activity in animal models of depression. Keywords: Amla (Emblica officinalis), Anti-depressant, Forced swimming test, Tail suspension test, Imipramine

Flavonoids are important group of polyphenols widely distributed among the plant flora. The compounds are derived from parent compounds known as flavans. Over four thousand flavonoids are known to exist and some of them are pigments in higher plants.Flavonoids are mainly present in Citrus fruits as their glycosyl derivatives. This review provide information about various methods of extraction, isolation and determination of flavanoids from medicinal plants. Key words: Flavonoids, Extraction, Isolation, Total flavanoid content

Aim is to develop the Moisture Activated Dry granulation technique on Valacyclovir tablets 500 mg. Dry mixing and Granulation were carried out in Rapid Mixer Granulator as per the process specifications. Particle size distribution, bulk density and compressibility index are comparable. This shows that the intermediate processing steps viz sifting and milling operations were satisfactory. Final blend of the batch was subjected for analysis as per in process specification and the results are found to be within the specification limit. Compression of the Valacyclovir Tablets 500mg was carried out at Low hardness, Optimum hardness & High hardness at Optimum speed. Samples are collected from each trail & analyzed as per validated method. The results show that all physical and chemical characteristics of the tablets were within the acceptance limit. Key Words: Vallacyclloviir,, Moiistture acttiivatted dry granullattiion

In the present study an attempt has been made to develop Lamivudine matrix tablets using Eudragit RLPO and RSPO. The matrix tablets were prepared by wet granulation method with different concentrations of Eudragit RLPO and RSPO and in combination with Ethyl cellulose. Preformulation study was done initially and results directed for the further course of formulation. Based on Preformulation studies different formulations of Lamivudine were prepared using selected excipients. All the Physico chemical parameters like hardness, friability and drug content have been evaluated. Results of the present study demonstrated that combination of both hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymers could be successfully employed for formulating controlled release matrix tablets of Lamivudine. Key Words: Lamivudine, matrix tablets, Eudragit RLPO and RSPO
